PsyQ the Hague is an independent provider of preventive, consultative and counseling interventions in most mental health related areas. PsyQ has the capacity to be a linking pin to all available specialised mental health services. It has developed an intervention specifically targeted for the expat population with its specific needs and position within the Dutch system.
Being an expatriate offers great opportunities to enrich personal development and social interactive skills. In a new social and cultural environment adaptive mechanisms are needed to create a new sense of belongingness. Whilst many people may have these adaptive skills, the new situation can also bring about uncertainty and anxiety. In that sense the expat population is relatively at risk of developing psychological and physical symptoms and problems.
Family and social support may not be sufficiently available and the step towards asking for support from self-help groups or professionals is not always easily taken. Not knowing your way around in the Dutch health system makes it even more difficult. This may result in a delay in seeking (professional) help and subsequent worsening of the situation.
Our services are available for the individual expat ands his/her family. Specific programs are available for organisations that have a large number of expat employees, these can be adapted to meet the specific demands of the organisation and its employees.
